Larsen and Toubro’s (L&T) Power business has been granted building, acquirement and development (EPC) contract by India’s SJVN Thermal for the 2x660MW ultra-super critical power plant in Buxar locale in the Indian territory of Bihar.
Under the agreement, L&T will be in charge of configuration, designing, make, acquisition, supply, development, erection, testing and appointing of 1.32GW Buxar warm power venture on turnkey premise. The extent of supply incorporates steam generator, steam turbine generator, electrostatic precipitator, NOx control framework, and pipe gas desulphurization (FGD) framework.
Larsen & Toubro launches strategic unit L&T-Nxt; to focus on on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Cyber Security.
Also, the firm will give total equalization of plant (BoP) frameworks including crude water admission framework, make-up water framework, coal and fiery remains taking care of framework, cinder dyke, total E&I framework including switch yard and complete common, auxiliary and structural works.
SJVN Thermal is wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN Limited, which is a joint endeavor between the Government of India, the Government of Himachal Pradesh and a Mini Ratna open part attempted.
L&T Power & Whole-Time Director-L&T CEO and managing director Shailendra Roy said: “Knowing the importance of this project for the state of Bihar, L&T shall aim to set new benchmarks in completion schedule, quality, safety and equipment/system performance. “With majority of the equipment including boilers, turbines, generators, etc, being made locally in our world class manufacturing facilities at Hazira, this project will also go a long way in accomplishing the ‘Make in India’ initiative promoted by our Honourable Prime Minister.”
In a separate announcement, L&T said its construction arm L&T Construction has completed construction of Medigadda Barrage project.
The foundation stone for the project was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2019.

L&T’S power segment has been struggling for the lack of orders in the last few years. The new project will help improve L&T’s capacity utilization, but the company’s orders from the private sector continue to remain muted. Overall, as of March 2019, L&T had an order book of Rs. 2.93 trillion.
