Larsen and Toubro Limited (L&T) has commissioned and handed over more than 360-Mega Watt Bheramara Combined Cycle Power Plant Development Project to North West Power Generation Company Limited (NWPGCL), a completely owned subsidiary of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).
After execution testing, the plant limit has been pronounced as 410 MW by NWPGCL. The plant is in Bheramara of Kushtia locale in the western part of Bangladesh, around 250 km from Kolkata, L&T said in an announcement.
“L&T’s work included outline, architecture, building, supply, capacity installation, establishment and dispatching of the total power plant on a consecutive turnkey basis for Marubeni Corporation of Japan, with Gas turbines, steam turbine and generators from Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Japan.”
Work in the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)- subsidized task began in July 2014 and the plant was incompletely appointed before, which was given over to NWPGCL for business operation in May 2017.
Shailendra Roy, CEO and overseeing executive, L&T Power, stated, “The way that two power plants were appointed one after another in Bangladesh, one in December 2017 and the other in January 2018, says a lot about L&T’s size of operations. We thank the Bangladesh experts for having and keeping faith & confidence in our abilities.”
